In our opinion, Borghetto was the most beautiful village we visited during the whole trip. A village that is literally on the water (the Minchu River flows through it) and only pictures can describe its picturesque beauty. Since the farm where we slept is a 3-minute drive from Borghetto, we walked there twice and if we had more time, we would come back again. Everything is green around, streams of water everywhere, alleys with ancient houses and big water wheels next to them, several shops (including an amazing shop of soaps and incense), cafes and restaurants and a path along the Mincio river channel.

The village is very small and guests are not allowed to enter with a car. There are several free parking lots at the entrance to the village and paid parking lots inside the village. Since it is a 2-minute walk away, we parked in the free parking lot at the entrance to the village (after crossing the ancient bridge from Vulgio sul Mincho and turning left). Only after you get there, walk slowly and stand on the bridge in the village, do you feel the atmosphere.
If you didn’t find it on the map (and it happens), it is right below the village of Vallegio sul mincio (by the way, Vallegio has a large and cheap supermarket). It is important to emphasize that despite Borgetto’s beauty and character, it is a tiny kefron and therefore, there is no need to devote a lot of time to it.
Recommended restaurant in Borghetto A very nice and recommended restaurant in the amazing village of Borghetto with excellent food is Antica Locanda Mincio. Everything there exudes luxury: the respectable but not stressful atmosphere, the impressive interior design, the walls with the painted reliefs, the wooden ceiling, the tables and the ancient building itself. Happily, the waiters were very kid friendly. This is definitely the place for a serious dinner of several courses and not for a quick snack. Everything we ordered was very tasty. Although the cupperto was 2 euros per diner, in this particular restaurant, we accepted it with understanding and even justification. The truth is that the bill was around 100 euros anyway (we ate well there, including pasta dishes and meat dishes and side dishes and drinks), so we would have left a similar amount as a tip anyway. If you come to Borghetto and have an hour or two to spare, relax and dine. The amusing part is that during our stay in the restaurant, 4 of the 8 full tables in the restaurant were occupied by Israeli families. We arrived following recommendations we read in the book “The Traveling Family” and on international websites and I assume the other Israeli diners as well… the restaurant is in the center of the tiny village, so there is no problem finding it.
